Cocos Island

We take pride in offering our customers and friends an expedition to Cocos Island scheduled from September 6th to 16th, 2025.

Cocos Island

Cocos Island is a remote, breathtaking paradise in the Pacific Ocean, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and renowned for some of the best big-animal diving on the planet. If you crave exciting, pelagic-packed waters and adventure on the open sea, this is your dream destination.

You can expect  large schools of hammerhead sharks gathering at dive cleaning stations with high chances to see tiger sharks, white tip sharks, galapagos sharks, black tip sharks, whale sharks, large tunas and bustling schools of jacks.

Explore with Marta Cambra, a marine biologist and specialist in Cocos Island sharks.

What makes this a unique experience, is not only to dive in one of the world’s breathtaking dive destinations, but to do it with a shark researcher on board with more than 10 years of research experience at Cocos Island.

Marine biologist Marta Cambra established the longest shark and ray research project at Cocos Island alongside the University of Costa Rica and the park rangers of this National Park.

She uses underwater baited cameras to study shark and ray diversity, distribution and abundance patterns, in diverse habitats of Cocos, including the remote and unexplored underwater seamounts around it.

On this expedition, Marta will share insights from her studies through engaging talks, activities and presentations during a journey filled with first-hand knowledge and high-quality dives.

As the boat sets sail, you will watch the coastline of Puntarenas slowly fade into the horizon, heading into the vast blue expanse of the ocean.

After your first dinner on board, the best option is to rest, as by dawn, you will find yourself surrounded by the immensity of the Pacific. The first full day at sea is one of complete relaxation—enjoying great food, getting to know your fellow divers, or simply unwinding and taking in the journey.

On the third day, the silhouette of Cocos Island appears on the horizon, and the excitement is indescribable. The crew prepares for the first check dive, allowing you to test your gear and get ready for the incredible dives ahead.

From this point on, your routine will be simple and perfect: dive, eat, and rest. Conversations revolve around the breathtaking dives of the day, and at night, images of hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and other marine creatures will still linger in your mind.

Towering waterfalls plunge directly into the sea, and the dense jungle adds to its mystique and wild charm.

After days of adventure, the time comes to return to the mainland. The journey back is more relaxed, offering the perfect opportunity to review your photos, share memories, and say farewell in your heart to the legendary island of pirates. A voyage that will undoubtedly remain etched in your memory forever.
