We are the Vargas brothers, Rodrigo and Roberto, and our story with the ocean began at a young age. Our father, Don Rodrigo, worked as an engineer for the Costa Rican Electricity Institute, long before the era of cell phones. His mission was to bring public telephony to every small town in Costa Rica, which allowed him to explore every corner of our country. Whenever he came back home, his goal was to share these wonders with us. That’s how, accompanying him, we discovered an authentic Costa Rica, visiting mountains, rivers, and beaches that gradually anchored our hearts in the Pacific Ocean.

That connection with the sea turned into more than just a pastime—it led us to become passionate divers and eventually find our professional paths. Rodrigo, a programming guru, founded his own hosting and online positioning company, while Roberto focused on tourism business management, establishing one of the most successful diving centers in the country. The idea to create Saltwater Connection came precisely from the combination of our knowledge and experiences, with the goal of establishing an online travel agency focused on what we love most: the ocean and marine adventures.
